Thrissur: A carpenter here has created a national record by making the smallest charka (spinning wheel) in the country. The charka with 1.8 cm in length, 1.5 cm in height and 1.1 cm in width has been made using the flakes of teak wood. Rajeesh Puliyanoor, 39, of Veloor panchayat here, who broke the record of Narendra Patel in Gujarat, was given the certificate by Mr Sunil Joseph, head of the Universal Record Forum (URF) in Kerala, at a function held at Changampuzha Hall, Sahithya Akademi, here on Friday.
Rajeesh told DC that he was inspired by Sathar Adhoor, who entered the Guinness Record on June 4 here by displaying the largest number of miniature books which he owns. “It took several months of effort for me to create the smallest chakra that can be used for spinning cotton,” he said. After the URF national record, he will be applying for Limca Book of Records and URF Asian Record.
The charka made by Mr Patel was 2 cm in size, Rajeesh said. “The holder of the national record, which I broke, holds the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Record as well. So I am planning to apply for both Limca and Guinness records,” Rajeesh said.
