Kailasagiri sizzles with display of love
Visakhapatnam: Located on a picturesque hill with enchanting panoramic sea view, Kailasagiri is the most sought-after tourist spots in the city and is also regarded as the queen among the tourist locations in the City of Destiny.
The tourist spot delivers scope for various fascinating amusement activities like circular train journey, ropeway, museum, children park, huge lawn and many more.
Despite all such features, the public display of affection is putting tourists and families visiting the place are in an embarrassing situation.
“With a lot of zeal and interest, I came to Kailasagiri with my family members to spend a quality time and enjoy the scenic view but I could not stay here forat least 15 minutes. Starting from the bottom of the hill, everywhere the youngsters are indulging in such unabashed obscene acts,” said M. Suryam, a tourist from Hyderabad.
“Kailasagiri is a great place for people to spend their weekends. We all family members used to spend whole day arranging small picnic. Moreover, children can enjoy the park, toy train and many more things here. However, I stopped coming here for the last few months due to the increasing obscene acts by lovebirds,” said A. Ishwar, a localite.
Some senior citizens and parents also told Deccan Chronicle as how they are facing discomfort due to such public display of affection completely unmindful of the people around. “This is not a park, but a tourist spot. People from many parts come to the place. Hence, the youths should not behave that causes annoyance to them,” V. Maheswar Rao said.
It may be recalled that police had initiated action a couple of years ago against young lovers who bunked classes and misled their parents and teachers to be in the company of their lover. Many couples were picked up by police then and left after counseling, triggering a fear among youngsters. However, the moral policing stance is preventing police personnel now from taking such action.
Speaking about the legal aspects, senior advocate and president of Forum of Legal Professional Kuppili Muralidhar said, “Though there are provisions in IPC to curtail such obscene activities. Implementation of it at ground-level is causing a lot of problem. I think women police should be deployed at such spots. Rather acting harsh, they should counsel the youngsters, especially students not to indulge in such activities.”
