Dr Mohana Vamsy and Indivar Kiran's professionalism turned them into best friends
Founder of Omega Hospital Dr Mohana Vamsy and Dr Indivar Kiran, medical director and anesthesiologist respectively, met in 1999. Their bond is made of small, personal, memorable moments. “We met for the first time in the operation theatre, both doing our respective jobs. What struck me then was his lightheartedness and his ability to keep the OT lively,” recalls Dr Vamsy.
Their friendship developed gradually. “It became an unbreakable bond over the years. He is now the most special person in my life. We share anything and everything and I think that is the best part about our connection,” he adds.
Kiran recalls their “medical” conversations. “That was our centre of gravity, really. We came together talking about medicine — as well as all sorts of things, but medicine was the common factor.”
Their friendship continued. Much later, Kiran worked with Dr Vamsy to complete his dream, Omega hospitals.
Recalling some special moments from their time together, Kiran shares, “I was organising a large national conference and he volunteered to help me. During this event we spent a lot of time together and got to know each other and a working relationship grew into a close friendship,” he smiles.
Vamsy reminisces too: “There is one particular moment when we were going through a very bad time. We were struggling. We worked day and night to open new hospitals with labourers. We were practically together for 60 days to make this happen.”
Vamsy tells us proudly that he can turn to Kiran at any point and can always seek advice. Kiran says, “Complete trust is the most unique quality of our friendship. We are committed and ready to stand by each other at all times.”
The duo adds that the times spent in the operation theatre is on the top of their list of favourite memories. “And then we love to eat, specifically vegetarian food,” says Kiran adding that they used to go out and eat together often.
Working together is what helps them spend quality time together. “Through us, our families have grown closer together too and we are always part of each other’s family events,” shares Kiran.
