The resolute explorers
The New Year is here, and while like most years, a lot of time and effort is being put into making resolutions that matter, this year, there is one specific trend that is universal — Going the quirky and wacky way whole hog. From keeping fit, inculcating mindfulness in one’s life and taking on new courses, there is a palpable need to replenish one’s body and soul. Many city celebrities share their quirky and unique resolutions for the year 2018.
Creating a balance between the various aspects in one’s life is very necessary. Actress Neethu says, “This New Year, I am going to try and learn and be a practitioner of Shamanism which is a Native American psychic, emotional and spiritual healing. I want to devote more time to it and achieve a balance between my work and spiritual life as I haven’t been able to do so till now. Getting this balance is what I am looking for in 2018.”
Learning something new is always a good way to start a year. Actress Hitha Chandrasekar is going adventurous, “My friend and I have this tradition of listing out all our resolutions, and somewhere mid-year, we open them up to see how much we have achieved. This year, I would like to learn how to ride a geared bike. I have always wanted to learn but have never got the opportunity”
Exploring things in your own backyard is something that another actor wants to do, as he feels that the state has options of places to vacay at, that are off the beaten track. Sunil Raoh is all about exploring new vistas, “This year, I plan to travel to more places inside the state as there are so many hidden gems worth visiting. I feel that whenever we think of vacations and travelling, we always think of places outside India or other states. Karnataka has so many beautiful places. Since I am a big fan of nature treks, I would like to go on more treks to these less popular places.”
Overcoming obstacles is a part of everyday life and overcoming them is necessary. Actress Sukrutha Wagle feels that challenging one’s personal boundaries is a good way to start the New Year, “In the past year, I have mastered a head stand, and this year I want to master hand stands and somersaults. I suffered from a nerve disorder — a Sciatic nerve disorder that hinders my flexibility, and leaves me with cramps when I overwork. But I have overcome this obstacle through yogasanas. So in order to increase my flexibility, I would like to learn how to do hand stands and somersaults.” When it comes to the run-of-the-mill resolutions, everyone is clearly saying a loud and resounding, “NO” for more quirky option that open their minds! A good start to 2018? We think so.
