St George Parish of Thalayolaparambu recently set a new record in copying the Bible. The mega event involved 790 Parish members who copied the entire Bible, both the old and new Testaments, comprising 73 books in just one hour and 12 minutes. The earlier Universal Record Forum record of copying was done by 1,264 persons in one hour and 34 minutes.
At an era of Internet and short attention span, that 790 people joined to create such a record was heartening for the priest community. “The new generation came with a lot of enthusiasm to participate in the event, and there was an opportunity for them to learn about the Bible, and keeping of values”, said Rev. Fr John Puthuva, Vicar of the Church. Cutting across age groups, they copied the holy book in their own handwriting after a long period of prayer and preparation.
