Nammooru Bengaluru!

Love it or hate it, Bengaluru just gets into your spirits! The eclectic city has its own quirks and charms! Here’s a peak view into the city!

From auto drivers zooming past us without paying any heed to our ‘MG road ge hogtira Sir?’ to not knowing how to dress appropriate to the weather, there are some things that only Bengalureans can relate to. We caught up with them to understand their woes! Warning: The following rant session might get you thirsty and up in arms!

Speaking about the Bipolar weather in namma ooru Shristi Jain, a 20-year-old college student says, “If you live in any other city and want to experience all the seasons in one day then please visit Bengaluru. We wake up to what seems like a Siberean winter, the day progresses to a tropical summer and the evenings are dreadful with heavy rains and the cycle repeats. The biggest woe of a Bengalurean according to me is, not knowing what to wear, so making a fashion statement is just not our forte!”

We’ve all seen those pretty ladies dressing up in their cars and men listening to the news as they drive to work! Bengalureans are now doing their daily chores on the go!

Priyanka Sharma, a working woman says, “Planning your day around the traffic in the city is now a daily ritual. Many a times after my dinner I try thinking about what time to wake up and get to work and after a mental calculation I end up thinking that I might as well get ready at the very moment and leave!” Speaking about her commute to work Priyanka adds, “The next most difficult task is to find an auto rickshaw driver who will not ask you for extra money over the meter, because apart from riding in their autos we are expected to pay for until the next passenger comes by!”

However, giving a break from the ranting Shristi appreciates the greener side of the grass she says, “The nectar of the gods is the classic good ol’ glass of piping hot filter coffee. This sure is a stress buster and catching up with your friends for a cup of coffee tossed with a bit of banter is the best way to end a crazy evening.” Says Shristi.

Don’t know how to communicate in the local language? Don’t worry about it, when in Bengaluru you will never miss home because people speak just about every language you can understand. However, Pooja CK, a working woman from her personal experience warns, “When in a BMTC make sure you have learnt at least a few basic words so as to avoid being scolded by the conductor.”

Have you received a call late at night from your friends inviting you to join them for window shopping? Pooja believes she knows how exactly this plan will transpire, “Taking pictures of that one main road in Commercial Street, we all know we’ve done it at some point in our lives, and end up captioning it - Bengaluru days. Despite the rude autodrivers, the changing weather, the potholes and the traffic we will always choose Bengaluru, anyday.”
