It's first Namma Bengaluru Habba, head to Sankey Tank
BENGALURU: To inspire a greener and environment-friendly Bengaluru, the state Tourism Department is all set to launch a day-long maiden edition of 'Namma Bengaluru Habba' at Sankey Tank on Sunday. The festival is a one-of-its-kind green initiative, aimed at creating awareness on protecting the environment.
Amid decorated streets, the green festival will offer a peek into the rich cultural heritage of the state, through art performances, including Yakshagana, Dollu Kunita and Hulivesha among others. Apart from this, the festival will see a range of unique performances by stilt walkers, street musicians, jugglers, magicians, face painters and caricature and tattoo artists. There will also be a flea market with a range of stalls selling a wide range of organic produce and ecological products, like terracotta jewellery, natural handmade soaps, millet-based foods, jute accessories, plants and green home décor options. Participants can also cruise in the lake with flyboards and jet skis.
The festival will have health and fitness sessions by professional gym and yoga trainers, along with stalls for free health check-ups.
IT-BT and Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge said, “Namma Bengaluru Habba is an effort to create awareness about the protection of Bengaluru. Through this unique festival, we aim to help the environment and at the same time experience a sense of community building by encouraging as many people to come together, get outdoors and give back to the environment. Working as a team is the only way we can protect Bengaluru.” The festival will witness a range of informative and interactive workshops, from topics such as rainwater harvesting and waste management to green choices such as the making of pottery and terracotta jewellery.
Traffic arrangement for Habba
In view of Namma Bengaluru Habba that will be held at Sankey Tank on Sunday, the city traffic police have made certain changes in traffic.
The event is organised by Phase 1 Events and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd in coordination with the Department of Tourism & ITBT, and about 10,000 to 20,000 people are expected to attend. For smooth conduct of function and free flow of traffic around Sankey Tank, the following traffic diversions are made and also parking facilities are provided those who attend the function.
Traffic diversion
Vehicles coming from Cauvery Junction and from Vyalikaval going towards Sadashivanagar P.S. Junction via 3rd Cross are restricted at Mint Masala Hotel. These vehicles should move on 13th Cross Sadashivanagar, join Maruthi Circle and can move towards Mehkri Circle and Sadashivanagar PS Junction.
Vehicles coming from New BEL Road and entering Sadashivanagar from 12th Cross should take right turn at Sadashivanagar PS Junction and move on Sir C.V. Raman Road, BHEL Circle Service Road, Maramma Circle and move further ahead.
