80 set forth on a pocket-friendly journey

Venture Airish aims at bringing together bike riders by offering them a low cost package.

KOZHIKODE: It was an unforgettable experience, wind in the face, sometimes raindrops, sometimes sun in the eyes and all of this was on miles and miles of road that 80 youngsters zipped down recently. It was all made possible by a group of five youngsters, Shebil Muhammed, Amal Prasad, Dilshad D.C, Kalam, Azhar Juman who came together and formed a venture called Airish, with the aim of bringing together riders while providing a pocket-friendly package.

The club, intrinsic to promote their venture, conducted and coordinated a ride to Vagamon with 80 riders from different places in Kerala, even from Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh. “People came in groups and single for the ride. Most of them were amateurs. It was definitely hard for us to coordinate as we too were freshers in this field. What we learned in theory is now being put into practice,” said Shebil Muhammed, managing director of Airish.

The club placed an open invitation on Instagram and Facebook but never expected such a big response. For a two-day ride, they charged only a registration fee of '450, no extra charge for food and accommodation. But the ride was a big hit and they are planning another soon. “For a normal rider, rider mania is a dream. So this venture is for them. One advantage we have is that we have our connections with resorts and the tourism department”, said Azhar Juman, coordinator of Airish.

The club has its base in Kondotty, Malappuram. The trip was on November 24 and 25 and all the participants came to Kondotty. As there were only five coordinators, the riders were divided into five groups. The plan was to see Nilakurinji. On the road, they also got a chance to be a part of a movie. From Vagamon they traveled to Vattavada through Munnar. “The experience in Munnar was unforgettable. It was foggy in Munnar and it was also raining. Almost for two hours, we rode through the rain. That was amazing as the temperature had fallen low”, said Shebil Muhammed. “Our goal is to provide a platform for those who wish to go on the road and we are looking forward to conducting more and more adventurous rides”, he added.
