Curate your own experiential tours

In order to promote travel within Karnataka, the state tourism team has come up with a unique theme...

As part of the state government’s initiative to step up the tourism sector in the state, the tourism theme for the year 2018 is called Script your adventure. This concept encourages travellers to document what they find beautiful and enticing in their terms, in order to motivate like-minded people to take up experiential tours in the state. We talk to avid travellers who have scripted or documented their adventures.

Exploring the richest cultures that this state has to offer is what this professional does to de-stress and unwind. City-based 34-year-old Veera Brahmam, who works for an apparel company, says, “I am an avid traveller and also a part of the Bangalore Trekking Club. Pictures of the places I’ve visited keep memories intact! Recently I had been to a place called Kumara Parvath, which is also known as Puspagiri. When I posted the pictures from this place, a lot friends got intrigued and planned their next trip there to witness the same scenic beauty.”

City-based senior financial advisor Satish Kumar Yadav says, “I have always believed in documenting my travels in the form of pictures. They let me re-live the trip over and over again. Karnataka has so many getaways where one can experience scenic views like Avallabetta, Muthyala Maduvu, Mandalpatti and the like. Also, when you give detailed reviews and post nice pictures, you help people understand the importance of mindful travel much better. It’s a nice way to disseminate valuable information.”

Someone with a similar opinion is a 24 year old Business associate analyst, Abha Managuli. She shares, “I had written about a trek to Kumara Parvath, which I had done back in November 2016. The write up was solely based on my personal experiences and what I discovered during the trek. It was an unfiltered take on the first ever trek I went on. I was able to capture the emotions, things I learnt about survival instincts and other human emotions. Interestingly, two people who happened to read the blog, joined me for the next trek! I have also sent the post to a few people and I am planning to give it to my office newsletter team to print.”

Getting an insight into the things to do, and places to visit at an unknown locale gives us a broader overview without even being physically present at the spot. Santosh Basavaraj, who works for an apparel company, believes, “Previously I used to just click pictures and write a few lines to give the snaps some meaning. However, I was motivated by my friends to pen travelogues and document my road trips. They look forward to these write-ups as they say it helps them see places through my eyes. It also helps them prepare better for a holiday. Many have taken up biking and travelling a lot seriously after reading my travel escapades.”
