Tarun Tahiliani to Close Dubai Fashion Week, Marking New Middle East Chapter

The grand finale, titled The Many Moods of TT, brings together three decades of design, craft and storytelling, ahead of the opening of the house’s first Dubai store.

Dubai: Indian couturier Tarun Tahiliani will close Dubai Fashion Week with The Many Moods of TT, a presentation that brings together the many expressions of a house shaped by three decades of design, craftsmanship and an enduring dialogue between tradition and modernity. The show marks a significant moment for the house, preceding the opening of its first Dubai store in Jumeirah.
Rather than presenting a single collection, The Many Moods of TT offers a view of the house in its entirety. Across approximately 70 models, the presentation moves through occasion wear, bridal, couture, menswear and OTT, bringing together different facets of Tahiliani’s design language. An audiovisual opening, featuring the designer’s own voice, sets the context for a practice rooted in India’s rich design history; from the art of draping and the intricacy of embroidery to the precision of tailoring and the many cultural influences that have shaped the country’s visual vocabulary.

At the heart of Tahiliani’s work is a distinctive unicity: the coming together of diverse influences, traditions and techniques to create a singular design language. Indian craftsmanship and contemporary sensibility do not exist as opposing ideas, but as parts of a coherent whole. The result is a vision of Indian modernity that is unmistakably his own.

The presentation also reflects Tahiliani’s belief that luxury need not announce itself. There is an ease to the way a garment falls, a quiet confidence in its proportions and a thoughtfulness in the details. It is a sensibility that finds a natural expression in sprezzatura, an effortless elegance in which every detail is considered, yet nothing feels overworked.

The show concluded with a subtle homage to Arab women and Islamic aesthetics, expressed through long coats, kaftans and stylised headwear. Drawing on Tahiliani’s personal admiration for the elegance of Middle Eastern women and the allure of modest dressing, the closing looks explore a form of sensuality shaped by suggestion, proportion and the framing of the face. It is an appreciation of the expressive possibilities of dress, approached through the designer’s own lens.

The presentation coincides with the opening of Tarun Tahiliani’s first Dubai store in Jumeirah, extending the house’s presence in a city that has long served as a meeting point for cultures, commerce and creative exchange. For Tahiliani, Dubai is a natural next chapter: a place where audiences recognise craftsmanship and where influences from West Asia, Central Asia, Africa and South Asia meet in a contemporary global context.
“It’s the real melting pot of West Asia. It connects us to a whole new world, and we’ve had some very successful trunk shows there. The more I go there, the more I’m struck by the sophistication of the women and their understanding of glamour. There is a very old-world sensuality to the way they dress, where allure comes not from exposure, but from something much deeper. It’s also a market that really understands quality, and for me, I can’t compromise on that”, said Tahilinai.

Conceived as a gallery-like sequence of spaces, the store brings together the different worlds of the house while allowing each its own identity. Jali (lattice) screens, tactile materials, considered lighting and quiet architectural details create an environment where the clothes remain central. The space reflects the same philosophy that informs the collections: a meeting of histories and techniques, brought together with restraint.

“For me, luxury is like a perfume that lingers. It is not about overwhelming a space or making a statement for its own sake, but about the feeling that stays with you”, Tahiliani adds.
For Tahiliani, the Dubai presentation is not simply a showcase of the past three decades, but an expression of how the house continues to evolve, retaining its roots while finding new points of connection across cultures.
A meeting of histories. A celebration of craft. A new chapter for TT in Dubai.
