Woman in China aborts baby to save her brother's life

She did it so that she could be able to donate her bone marrow to her brother who was suffering from lymphoma.

A young woman from China made the heartbreaking decision to terminate her pregnancy in order to save her brother’s life. Yang Li, 24, from Hangzhou City, was 12 weeks pregnant when she chose to give up her unborn child so that she could donate her bone marrow to her 29-year-old brother, Yang Jun.

Mr Jun, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in September 2015, could only be saved if he got a marrow transplant. Tests revealed that his sibling Li was a perfect transplant match. When she discussed the potential donation with experts, she was warned that undergoing the procedure could have an adverse effect on her child, reports Daily Mail.

Li was finally able to make the seemingly impossible choice with the support of her husband and in-laws and had an abortion recently. The doctors will perform the marrow transplant surgery on her as soon as her body recovers. Her decision has polarised opinions on Chinese social media with some hailing her as a hero and other critical of her actions.
