Initiative to help animals and birds quench thirst

Aim of the effort is to ensure that no animal or bird is left thirsty during the summer.

Coimbatore: With temperatures in the city soaring by the day and while we are heading towards the peak of the summer season, Coimbatore-based event manager Mrs. Reena Kothari started the Water For Voiceless (WFV) initiative here. Aim of the effort is to ensure that no animal or bird is left thirsty during the summer.

To achieve this, a set of volunteers source and distribute bowls that can be filled with water and placed at points that are frequented by animals and birds.

Speaking to DC about WFV Mrs. Kothari said “inspiration to start the initiative in Coimbatore came from my brother Mr. Sanjay Jain, who is based out of Bengaluru. In 2014, he placed bowls of water in his home in Tumkur and motivated by the number of birds and animals that quenched their thirst, he decided to expand the initiative to other cities too. Currently, WFV is active in the Delhi, parts of Karnataka and in Coimbatore.”
