Hyderabad: RK Puram lake piggeries irk people
Hyderabad: Residents of R.K. Puram and Devi Nagar are in a fix due to the pollution of the lake because of some industrial units. PCB officials visited the units in RK Puram basthi on Friday that residents had identified as the root cause of the problem, but left without inspection as the shutters were down, allege residents.
“The officials saw the two units where we have seen people make oil from the pig waste. The shutters were down so they left stating they do not have the powers to open it and look for evidence,” says B.T. Srinivas, president of resident welfare association.
The units use pig waste to make oil, claim residents. They allege that the people running the piggeries have threatened them on previous occasions when complaints were lodged. “The issue will not settle with mere awareness. Many other smaller pork shops are set here,” says Mr Nagesh Bandu a resident.
