A 'Paw-rfect'
Pets contribute a lot to one’s mental well being and leaving them at home while going out can be worrisome at times. Imagine what a delight it would be to have your pawed companion to accompany you on your outings. Recently a restaurant has made this possible by opening a pet friendly Resto café called ‘Twisty Tales’ and has become the first in the city to have come up with an idea like this.
The café houses eight Havanese and Designer puppies as hosts. They have the run of the house and would also be acting as play companions for any young puppy pets coming in. The 50-year-old bungalow turned café is themed and divided into three categories ‘Puppy love’, ‘Dog Café’ and ‘Resto Café’.
The chamber called ‘Puppy Love’ is where the little fur balls are free to do whatever they want. The Dog Café has a menu specially designed for dogs, this chamber has a variety of chew toys and other play stuff to keep the pooches occupied. The ‘Resto Café’ is the third division where a line of dishes from continental, North Indian, Tandoori and Asian cuisines will be served to customers while their dogs are kept entertained in their own space.
It was Rekha the co- owner of Twisty Tails, who realised the need for pet friendly cafes in Chennai. A few restaurants on ECR do allow you to bring a pet but they have to be tied up outside or left to play in the ground. The dog loving owner of Amethyst, Kiran Rao, allows pets in the garden. This new themed restaurant seems to have gone the whole distance in hitting upon the idea of keeping the pets busy too while their owners enjoy a meal. If the owners are dog lovers and don’t have a pet they can still enjoy the outing by playing with the ‘house’ puppies. Rekha turned the idea into reality along with her friends Vikram, Ajay and Entedine — a restaurant concept designing and execution company.
“The house has been given a vibrant makeover in royal blue with pops of teal & delightful design elements that envelop you in a special space away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are in the mood to play with your dogs, you can take them to the dog café which also has a specially crafted menu for dogs! And if you simply want to surrender to the infinite energy and affection of the eight fur balls, walk into the puppy love chamber where the most adorable pups are waiting to eagerly smother you with their love,” adds Rekha.
The launch of the restaurant had actor Santosh gracing the event. Manju Shankar, Swathi, Masudha Taj, Suja Suriya, Shariff, Sai Pooja, Ajay and Jai Lakshmi were also present along with the owners Guru, Vikram and Rekha.
(The restaurant is situated on Pycrofts Garden Road, opposite to Shastri Bhavan on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam.)
