Visitors harass suzy' at Hyderabad zoo

Hyderabad: The chimpanzee named Suzy at the Nehru Zoological Park here, which hit the headlines with its VVIP habits, is attracting unwanted attention, officials said. Zoo officials are having to take extra measures to prevent the harassment.

The chimpanzee was a pet of Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy and was handed over to the city zoo.

Suzy’s requirements including branded toothpaste and food was attracting many fans to its enclosure, officials said.

The zoo clarified that Suzy was a pet before it was given to the city zoo and was used to a few special benefits, which had to be continued to make it feel comfortable. Officials said the chimpanzee was not being treated any differently than the other animals at the zoo.
