As part of their continuous endeavour towards an eco-friendly Diwali, the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has come up with a few interesting initiatives this year too. Launching an awareness drive for a pollution-free Diwali, P. Veeranna, Chief Scientific Officer, TSPCB said, “We want to spread the message that Diwali is a festival of lights and not of sound and pollution. We have sent 20 lakh SMSes urging people to use only sound-less crackers.

Also, we have released wall posters and over 200 flexis to be put up on autorickshaws.” He added, “The eco-friendly festival drive includes jingles on FM Radio, TV scrolls, etc. We will also be displaying sky balloons at five prominent places in the city while monitoring the air pollution parameters and noise pollution levels at commercial and residential localities on Diwali.”
