Hyderabad: Blue Cross of Hyderabad is looking for good homes for beagles retired from Medical Research. These dogs are between 3 and 7 years and are healthy and agile.
Beagles require loving pet-friendly homes with experienced animal-friendly families. They are not suitable for families with children below 10 years. Beagles, the dog breed are most often used in animal testing, due to their size and passive nature.
They are used in a range of research procedures for fundamental biological research, applied human medicine, applied veterinary medicine, and protection of man, animals or environment.
Amala Akkineni Chairperson Blue Cross of Hyderabad said, “This year 300 beagles are retiring from laboratory research and we are looking for good homes for them. We would love people of Hyderabad to apply for adoption. They are lovely and beautiful, they don’t bark or bite. This is an appeal to help the beagles by adopting them. Adoptions will be held on weekends only. Please visit the shelter, during weekends, to adopt. ’’
She adds, “Few laboratory-released beagles are already adopted by few families in Hyderabad as part of our beagle adoption drive’’
