Hyderabad: The government is considering including Haritha Haram in the school curriculum, education minister Kadiam Srihari said on Monday.
Speaking at a review meeting, he said July 15 would be celebrated as Green Day in schools, with the slogan Haritha Pathshala-Haritha Telangana. The government aims to plant 50 lakh saplings this year in the schools.
He said schools which protect trees will be awarded every year. He said awareness rallies would be taken out by schools from 9 am to 10 am and saplings will be planted from 10 am to 11 am. He said of the 42 lakh saplings planted last year in schools, 40 per cent had remained healthy.
