Karnataka: First phase of mini Brindavan Gardens completed
Ooty: With six ponds and proposed fountains, the garden of the Karnataka government in the hills here will bring the aqua attraction in lines with Brindavan Gardens in Karnataka, attracting aquatic and migratory birds. The undulating lands and water sources around the slopes in the garden are being developed by the horticulture department in Karnataka. Efforts are being made to establish six bonds over a stretch over seven acres, to add extra aquatic attraction with aim to make it an abode for aquatic birds and migratory birds in winter.
The six ponds are being set up in such a way to help one go around them in the walkers pathways around to enjoy what the scenic beauty this garden offers. The forests, tea gardens and vegetable fields along the Ooty-Palada road bordering aquatic attraction in the garden adds extra charm to the garden. B.K. Krishnamurthy, horticulture officer of Karnataka government, in-charge of the garden development process here, said that the first phase of the garden is completed over 24 acres. In the second phase, there is a proposal to add musical ponds and fountains with illumination in the evening. There is provision to store six crore liters of water in the garden. This garden making is being planned in such a way to make it a perfect place for entertainment, to be amidst nature, besides being the place to take lessons on horticulture and conservation, he noted. Ornamental trees such as Magnolia liliflora will add extra charm to the garden, he noted.
