A purr'fect pooch love

Meet the lovely owner of Oh My Dog!

She loves dogs and cats. It really doesn’t matter where they come from —be it from a posh neighbourhood or abandoned in a dump — Nina Joshi, owner of Oh My Dog! the pet salon, takes felines and canines alike under her loving care!

Switching from a successful career with the media in graphic designing for over five years, after having pursued a course in LA, to her passion to work closely with dogs and cats that gave her nothing but pure joy, was not really easy. With a whole lot of support from family and friends, Oh My Dog! was born in October 2011. There has been no looking back ever since! “Even my worst days at the salon (which are few and rare!), give me more satisfaction than the best days in my media job,” elaborates Nina. That says it all, indeed!

Oh My Dog! offers almost everything a pet owner can dream of providing her dog with. Ranging from a complete grooming package to make your pet all fluffy and squeaky clean, to dental care to pedicure, oops… it’s pawdicure, to summer care and styling, Nina’s pet salon offers exciting packages. Sometimes, even customers’ suggestions are carefully considered and worked upon. Take for instance, the time when a customer walked in with his German Shephard suggesting that his canine be given a ‘haldi-dahi’ mix on her coat after a shampoo. It proved to be an excellent treatment, leaving the German Shephard with shiny, thick and soft coat!

Being open to new suggestions and having a loving attitude towards her work has definitely rewarded Nina in her career. Notable though is her care for the street dogs as well. “If a customer is kind enough to get a street dog into my salon, I offer all my services for a flat discount rate of 50 per cent!” claims Nina, beaming!

Nina’s salon also provides pet supplies like chew sticks, dry food, accessories, shampoos, etc., for your pets. In other words, it’s a one-stop shop for fluffies and furries!

What she loves about dogs and cats? Well… to begin with, D.O.G, spelt backwards is G.O.D! “I love that all you need to do when a stray dog sits on the pavement, staring blankly at you, is to stare back and smile — the stray loves you instantly and unconditionally forever! I also love the senseless things these canines do, like chasing random cars and laser lights!”

“As for cats,” she continues, “I love their purring when they’re cuddled up next to you. I love the way they knead your belly when super content. And I love the way they literally push me out of bed and the way they stare fixedly at you and meow back if you talk to them.” Oh My Dog! has been a great success and a fave hotspot for pet owners. “And,” quips Nina, “It’s just part of a bigger dream!”

So, what’s the big dream?

To be successful in rescuing and rehabilitating dogs and cats. “I rescue a lot of dogs, rehabilitate them and then get them adopted or homed,” elaborates Nina, adding, “It’s a long process but one that is extremely satisfying.”
