Bengaluru: A rare Albino cobra hatchling rescued

The cobra lays around 32 eggs and mother leaves as soon as the eggs are hatched.

BENGALURU: A rare albino cobra hatchling was rescued from JP Park on Monday. “This is first time in the history of Bengaluru that an albino cobra was found. Monsoon is the hatching time for them and also a time to get nutritious food, so they come in search of food,” said Rajesh Kumar M., Wildlife rescuer & Volunteer at BBMP Wildlife rescue team. He also said that the cobra lays around 32 eggs and mother leaves as soon as the eggs are hatched. “The hatchling is less than a week old and one of its kind,” Rajesh said.

The cobra is also apparently the first to be successfully rescued in the state and a rare species. Rajesh also stressed that it is important to save the other beings and their natural habitats around us; the increasing human- wildlife interaction is providing us with such rare opportunities on one hand but is also a danger and it is important to remember that with more developments the other natural creatures should not be disturbed. The further whereabouts of the rescued cobra were not revealed by the official.
