Ooty: Ooty is flooded with tourists as long weekend coincided with puja holidays. The huge tourist influx has come as a boost to the travel and tourism industry this autumn season. Tourist vehicles are crisscrossing the hills and major tourist spots like the Government Botanical Garden (GBG), Boat House, Government Rose Garden, Dodabetta peak, Pykara boat house,

Shootingmund view point and the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve are crowded with tourists over the last couple of days. The spurt in tourism influx has brought a festive atmosphere to the hills, leading to one to note that Dasara is being celebrated with high spirits in the hills.

Traffic managers are sweating it out to manage traffic on narrow hill roads. Stakeholders in the hospitality industry in the hills opine that it is a good sign to see autumn tourists back in good numbers to keep the tourism industry moving, besides bringing revenue to the hills. Tourism had hit a low ebb after the summer season, they said.

Stating that the autumn weather, the bloom and the lush green environs in Ooty  refreshes the mind and brings one close to nature, Rakeshkumar,  a tourist from Bengaluru,  said that the cool weather and clouds in the hills really kindle an interest in one to stroll in the hills now in the autumn weather.  It is

really good to relax in the hills amidst the salubrious weather and nature now during the puja holidays, though the hills is little overcrowded now, he noted.
