Hyderabad: Lack of clouds makes for warmer days but cooler nights. Clouds formation ends up absorbing the sun’s radiation, which helps protect the ground from day-long heat, but they do the reserves in the nights.
Clouds absorb the sun’s radiation and obstruct it from reaching the ground during day time, but post sunset (night hours), they release the heat to the ground, thus making the nights warmer. Clouds are the reason for an increase in minimum temperatures, said experts.
Director of the Indian Meteorological Department in Hyderabad, Mr Y. K. Reddy, explained, “Night temperatures, over the last few days, are crossing above 25. March 30 recorded 25.5 degrees, which is 2 degrees above normal. It is thus better to have clear skies throughout the day for the ground to absorb more heat so that the night temperatures fall.” Meanwhile, the month ended on a hot note. The city on March 31 recorded 40.8 degrees, the highest so far in the season, while the state witnessed dry weather throughout. The forecast for Hyderabad is, partly cloudy skies, with maximum and minimum ranging 40 and 25 degrees respectively. Telangana and Rayalaseema: The warning issued for TS and Rayalseema has been extended for the next two days, April 1 and 2. The maximum temperatures continue to be above normal by 2 to 3 degrees and the same is likely to be above 40 degrees at isolated places in all the districts.
