OMEGA, the Swiss watchmaker whose legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch became the first watch worn on the Moon, is bringing one of the brand's most iconic stories to life through its first-ever immersive Speedmaster installation in India, travelling across four cities.
Beginning in New Delhi and travelling to Mumbai and Bengaluru the installation will offer visitors the opportunity to experience, for the first time in India, life-size replicas of the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) and Neil Armstrong's spacesuit, set against a recreated lunar surface inspired by mankind's historic journey to the Moon.
The installation celebrates OMEGA's unparalleled contribution to space exploration and invites visitors to step into one of history's greatest achievements while discovering the story behind the Speedmaster Moonwatch.
A Journey to the Moon
Chosen by NASA for all manned space missions and famously worn during the Apollo 11 Moon landing in 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster has become one of the world's most iconic timepieces.
The installation recreates the pioneering spirit of the Apollo missions through two of their most recognizable symbols.
The Lunar Roving Vehicle
The Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) transformed lunar exploration during NASA's final three Apollo missions. Powered by electric motors on each of its four wire-mesh wheels, the vehicle enabled astronauts to travel farther across the Moon's surface than ever before, dramatically expanding scientific exploration.
Compact enough to be folded inside the Lunar Module during launch, the Rover unfolded on the Moon to carry astronauts, scientific instruments, and lunar samples. It featured advanced navigation and communication systems and had an operational lifetime of over 78 hours.
Today, the original Lunar Roving Vehicles remain on the Moon as enduring symbols of human innovation and exploration.
Neil Armstrong Spacesuit Replica
Complementing the Rover is a meticulously recreated replica of the spacesuit worn during NASA's Apollo missions, paying tribute to the astronauts whose courage and determination forever changed human history.
Together, the Rover and spacesuit recreate the atmosphere of lunar exploration, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in one of humanity's defining moments.
An Interactive Experience
Beyond viewing the installation, visitors can capture memorable photographs against the recreated lunar landscape while exploring the legacy of the OMEGA Speedmaster through dedicated product showcases.
