Teenager from Philippines with extra hands from parasitic twin to undergo surgery

Physical deformities can make life a daily ordeal for any person and as a child it can be even worse. While twins are not very rare, a number of children are born with parts of their undeveloped twin attached to their body, which may even threaten their life.

14-year-old Veronica Cominguez from Philippines was born with two extra arms and half formed fingers. These parts were manifestations of a parasitic twin that didn’t develop properly but grows with her.

She has lived with them all these years and even cuts nails and cleans her twin regularly. But now the teenager can look forward to a normal life as locals have raised money to pay for an operation in Thailand.

The parts are heavy and restrict Veronica’s movements as they also leak at times. The family has a history of twins and her mother knew she would have twins when she was pregnant.

She can live a healthy life as her doctor says that the limbs can be removed through a simple procedure set to take place in Thailand in a few weeks.
