Drinking pint of beer a day helps boost men's performance in bed
A new study now claims that drinking pint of beer daily boosts a man’s performance in bed.
The study says that men who have a small regular drink are less likely to be a flop than drunkards.
However, drinking more than a pint a day did not increase the benefits, scientists found.
They discovered two units of alcohol a day — roughly a pint of beer or a small glass of wine — cut the risk of impotence by 34 per cent compared with non-drinkers.
Half a pint of beer daily reduced it by about 26 per cent.
Earlier studies have already said that heavy drinking damages a man’s ability to get an erection — leading to the dreaded “brewer’s droop”.
But the data on moderate boozing has been less clear-cut.
The research, carried out by Sichuan University, China, analysed 24 separate studies involving nearly 155,000 patients and found one in ten men suffers erectile dysfunction at some point, with more than a third of over-40s affected.
Speaking about the study, Dr Geoff Hackett, of the British Society of Sexual Medicine, said women’s performance was not found to benefit from a small amount of alcohol.
