Shocking image of truck driver shows damage due to sun exposure over 28 years

Among a lot of factors that gradually take a toll on our body, exposure to the sun has been associated with a lot of skin issues. While UV rays are known to be damaging to the human skin, the actual extent of it can be bizarre.

The shocking image of a 69-year-old truck driver shows exactly what kind of harm 28 years of sun exposure could cause to the skin. One side of his face was regularly exposed to the sun for all those years because of the nature of his job and the difference between two sides of his face is visible.

While one side of the face seems relatively smooth, the other is wrinkled and saggy in the image published by the New England Journal of Medicine. The skin had thickened due to UV rays which had passed through the truck’s window.

UVA rays are responsible for 95 percent radiation reaching the earth’s surface and it also leads to development of skin cancer.
