Visakhapatnam: Along with doctors, nurses and caretakers, self-confidence is an important aspect in the war against cancer, said South Indian actress and cancer survivor Gautami on Thursday. “No one can give us the strength to fight if we cannot find it within ourselves and we get the inspiration to fight from those who have fought cancer,” she said while attending a breast cancer awareness event.
Life Again Foundation will be organising ‘Winners Walk’ on Saturday morning at 6.30 from Kalimata temple to YMCA. The actress asked everyone to take part to raise awareness about the disease. “When we are alert and proactive, we will be able to detect cancer in its early stages and early stage breast cancer is curable. This is the positive message that we are trying to spread with our Life Again Foundation-Winners Walk,” said Gautami who is also the founder of this non-profit organisation. On the occasion, she appreciated the works of Telugu film actor Balakrishna as the chairman of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad. According to her, the hospital has set new standards of care for cancer treatment and serves the needy with passion and compassion.
