This is the time most people crave takeout food

Researchers studied Google searches from India, Australia, Canada and the US.

Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. is when people across the globe crave takeout food like Chinese or pizza, a new study has found.

For the study, Researchers from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland studied Google searches from the UK, US, India, Australia and Canada, the Daily Mail reported. They particularly looked at searchers in September 2016 and March 2017 and tried to find commonalities.

The team believes our ancestors maybe the reason for this behaviour and have termed it "modern foraging".

"Successful foraging behaviour has been favoured by natural selection, which shaped innate, species-specific decision rules that maximize energy gain," researchers are quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"Here, we propose that information seeking behaviour (ISB) for food-associated search terms via Internet is a novel, human-specific appetitive behaviour that reflects food-related motivation," they further explained.

Researchers also found no evidence that this pattern was driven by cultural differences. Instead, the findings suggest it may be due to our bodies’ natural circadian rhythm.

The study's findings were originally published in the journal Royal Society Open Science.
