NRI doctor to help Kurnool hospital

Florida-based cardiologist Dr K. Ram Reddy assures it of tech transfer.

Kurnool: Kurnool General Hospital with its state of the art Cardiothoracic Surgery unit is in for a windfall as Florida-based Cardiologist Dr Keshav Ram Reddy assured it of technology transfer. This would enable the centre to better service to the heart patients in backward Rayalaseema districts. Confirming this, Prof C. Prabhakar Reddy said that Cardiothoracic division would be sharing real time patient profiles with the Florida centre to administer the best of the best medical care.

Speaking to this correspondent, Dr Ram Reddy said that with ‘doctors beyond borders’ concept gaining traction, medical field is the biggest beneficiary of telecom revolution in the country. Dr Ram Reddy said that while America is moving towards minimally invasive treatments, India lags behind in this area of practice not because of expertise but because of lack of technology.

The Florida-based cardiologist, who participated in a ‘Continuous Medical Education programme’ at the Kurnool Medical College, said that Kurnool hospital holds the promise of Medical Tourism because of its proximity to International Airport at Shamsabad, Hyderabad.

“The cost effective but technologically superior Cardiothoracic Centre would act as a catalyst in improving the profile of the hospital,” Dr Keshav Ram Reddy said and added that he along with his batch of old students of Kurnool Medical College would chalk out a program to share the latest technologies in the field of medicare to make a robust contribution. Comparing the medicare practices in USA and India, Dr Keshav Ram Reddy said that India holds backbone to US medicare as quality professionals are made at Kurnool Medical College.
