Hepatitis A claims a life in Kozhikode

Household visits by health squads have been continuing. 5389 houses were visited on Friday as a part of preventing the fever epidemic.

Kozhikode: A suspected case of Hepatitis A claimed a life in the district on Friday. Nanmanda native Sunilkumar (43) died at the government medical college hospital. 2224 cases of viral fever have been reported on Friday, according to the district medical office. Of this, 36 have been admitted. 84 suspected cases of dengue and 21 confirmed cases, four suspected cases of Hepatitis A and 259 ADD (Acute diarrhoeal disease) cases were also reported. Eight ADD patients were admitted. A suspected case of leptospirosis was also registered.

Household visits by health squads have been continuing. 5389 houses were visited on Friday as a part of preventing the fever epidemic. Of this, mosquito breeding spots were found in 634 households. “The cleanliness drive will be conducted in the entire district on June 27, 28 and 29. Besides, month long leptospirosis awareness activities would also be conducted,” said District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr Ashadevi. Health awareness classes were conducted in 16 places and spraying in 51 spots. Fogging, group awareness activities, pamphlet distribution etc is going on in full swing.
