1,233 fever cases in Kozhikode on Tuesday
KOZHIKODE: 1233 fever cases were reported on Tuesday, according to the district medical office. Of these, 36 have been admitted. 67 suspected and 22 confirmed cases of dengue were reported. A case of Hepatitis B and two cases of malaria were also registered. Of the malaria cases, two are indigenous. As many as 15 7ADD (Acute diarrhoeal disease) cases were also reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, as a part of the epidemic control programme, the district medical office chlorinated water bodies in the district and carried out surprise inspections at food outlets. 7249 water bodies which include household wells, water tanks and other water bodies were chlorinated in the district. Inspection was carried out at 493 hotels, 305 cool bars, 291 bakeries, 34 catering firms, soda manufacturing units and ice factories. “Of this, notices were issued to 62 hotels, 16 cool bars, 19 bakeries, three catering units and 29 other eateries,” said district medical officer (DMO) Dr V. Jayashree. The fine charged on these eateries was '96,300.
