Civic bodies to appoint doctors
In the wake of the rising number of fever deaths, the civic bodies will appoint doctors and paramedical staffers. Each Primary health centres (PHC) will get a doctor and a paramedical staffer while the Community Health centres (CHC) will get two doctors and a paramedical staff each. All Out Patient (OP) departments of hospitals will operate from 8am to 6pm. The civic bodies will have to use their planned fund for the scheme.
Local Self Government Department (LSGD) Minister KT Jaleel declared that his department would conduct fresh postings after interviews. With pre-monsoon activities losing momentum, the health department was involved in passing the buck to civic bodies like the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

Congress workers under the Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and MLA VS Sivakumar conducted a cleanup drive at Chalai as a part of statewide efforts to battle fever outbreaks. Around 100 workers cleaned up Kothwal street, vegetable markets among others and eradicated sources of mosquitoes with larvicides.
