KOZHIKODE: The medicos of Kozhikode Government Medical College Union on Tuesday will go live on their facebook page, in which the senior doctors of the hospital will be talking to the public to clear all their doubts and anxieties about the Nipah Virus. The virus has claimed the lives of six people in the district so far, prompting the Union Government to send its medical team to the district.
The talk also aims at clearing all the myths that have been circulating on various social networking sites about the virus, thereby creating panic among the public. The medicos have already started getting several queries from the public. It was based on this that they decided to go on live, where anyone can ask about anything regarding the virus from 5 pm to 6 pm
“It was the confirmation of the sudden outbreak of the Nipah virus that has created grave concern among the medical fraternity and laymen alike, that such a thought (about giving the live talk) came to mind,” said Arjun N, a member of the College union. He said that the public should be made aware of the definitive measures that needed to be taken regarding safety and protection against the disease, he added. The live talk would help them get a clear picture about the current status, he said.
Dr Jayesh Kumar P, Assistant Professor, Department of General Medicine, MCH, will be leading the live interaction session, along with a few other medicos of the college. The college union recently started a facebook page called ‘Your’s Doctor’, which is mainly a platform to conduct live shows with doctors for the public to talk to them directly on certain medical conditions.
