Swine flu toll touches 20 in Telangana
Hyderabad: One patient from the Ranga Reddy district has become the latest victim of swine flu in the state after he passed away at Gandhi Hospital in the city on February 20.
The total number of deaths due to swine flue, recorded by the state government, now stands at 20. It has also been revealed that 5,000 samples had been sent for testing to the Institute of Preventive Medicine and of them 648 have tested positive in the state from August of last year to the February of this year.
Officials said twenty more cases have reported positive and citizens have been requested to immediately report to hospital clinics if they have been experiencing symptoms such as high fever, sneezing, cough, cold and body pains.
The government has also asked people to avoid crowded areas and has asked people to cover the nose and mouth while sneezing, as it will help control the spread of the disease from fluids.
With night temperatures continuing to be low, officials are not ruling out the possibilities of more cases from the city and the government is asking people to implement all preventive measures.
