Parents of sick Chinese twins can only afford to save one child

A charity organisation is now helping the couple to raise funds for the twins' treatment.

A couple in China is desperate to save their twin sons from a deadly disease.

The siblings nicknamed 'Healthy' and 'Happy' were born in October last year in Shaoguan's Shixing County in southern China's Guangdong Province, the Shaoguan Daily reported.

At 10-months-old they were diagnosed with a rare immune disease called chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), after having difficulty breathing.

"CGD is an inherited primary immunodeficiency disease (PIDD), which means part of the body's immune system is missing or functions improperly", the Daily Mail reported.

However, because the cost of the treatment is so high they can only afford to save one. Two operations could cost an up to £114,000.

Thankfully, a charity organisation that got wind of their story is now assisting the family by raising funds for the operation.

The fund-raising page by the foundation aims to raise £102,000) for the sick babies. Currently, the campaign has raised £86,000.
