Watch: Shaving your pubic hair can be harmful

Shaving causes microscopic abrasion which can become infected or can aid in the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.

After puberty, hair starts growing near our external genitalia and with latest grooming trend becoming popular one needs to know if it’s OK to shave or wax your public hair.

Humans lost most of their body hair around 70,000-120,000 years ago.

There are various theories as to why one must think before shaving their pubic hair. Pubic hair is a sign that an individual has grown up and is ready to mate.

When you shave or wax, the regrowth of pubic hair causes various problems. 75% of people have experienced genital itching and 40% have experienced rashes of some sought.

The video shows that the increase in shaving has reduced pubic lice over the years, but at the same time shaving causes microscopic abrasion which can become infected or can aid in the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.

The footage also highlights that shaving of pubic hair has helped facilitate the rise of gonorrhea, chlamydia and HPV infections.
