27 confirmed cases of dengue in Kozhikode
Kozhikode: Damodaran, 59, of Muchukunnu in Koyilandy, died of dengue at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Saturday. There were 102 suspected cases and 27 confirmed cases of dengue in the district. Of 1,235 cases of fever reported on Saturday, 65 were admitted. Nadapuram, Kottur, Panangad and Chaliyam reported four suspected cases of diphtheria, besides a case leptospirosis, malaria, 130 ADD (Acute diarrhoeal disease) cases and two H1N1.
District Additional Medical Officer Dr Ashadevi said the number showed a declining trend.
“The health screening of migrant labours has started with the support of district administration. Chlorination and other precautionary measures continue in areas having a considerable migrant population,” she said. Narikkuni block topped in dengue in July; now it's mostly from Kozhikode Corporation limits.
