Big eyes are generally described as a good think and a facial feature that enhance a person’s appearance. But in some cases these enchanting eyes may not be a genetic advantage.
Two-year-old Mehlani Martinez was born with big pretty eyes, but this feature may just leave her blind in the future. The child suffers from a rare disorder called Axenfeld-Gieger syndrome which causes small or non-existent irises making it look like the eyes don’t have a coloured part.
The hole at the center called the pupil may be misshapen and in some cases there may be two pupils. Children with such a condition are usually sensitive to light which offers the eye through the pupil.
