Mr Ramchandra Reddy has been asked to lose 5 kg weight.
Hyderabad: Ailing 11-year-old Harshita’s father Ramchandra Reddy is being screened for a liver transplant for his daughter.
Dr Tom Cherrian, senior liver surgeon, said, “The child is in urgent need of a transplant. The protocol is to first look at the parents. The mother has been ruled out due to hypothyroidism and diabetes, the father’s blood tests have been done. If he does not fit the bill, we will have to look at first cousins.”
Mr Ramchandra Reddy has been asked to lose 5 kg weight. Mr Reddy said, “We would be glad if there is a cadaver donor. If not, I am willing to give a part of my liver. The only problem is that I have to lose 5 kg in 10 days. A diet chart has been given by the hospital." The case came to light when he asked for euthanasia for Harshita.
