Tamil Nadu: Organs of brain-dead give new lease of life for 6

COIMBATORE: The vital organs including heart, liver, kidneys and eyes of 22-year old Mr Navaneeth were donated, by his father, thus giving a fresh lease of life to half-a-dozen people.

He was rushed to a city-based hospital where he underwent specialized treatment.
Not responding to treatment, he was declared brain-dead on Tuesday, hospital sources said.
The youth's father, Mr. Sankaranarayana came ahead and donated the vital organs of his son. A team of doctors from the hospital completed the statutory requirement for harvesting the organs.
On Wednesday, the team of doctors at the Coimbatore-based hospital harvested the heart, liver, kidneys and eyes from Mr. Navaneeth.
The harvested organs were sent to hospitals in Kovai and Chennai, thus giving a new lease of life to six needy patients.
