Making teenagers run every day can help protect them from depression

Experts found that physical activity among children drops when they start attending secondary school.

Mental health issues pose a grave threat to people across age groups even as people become increasingly aware of the issue. Teenagers are also at risk of depression due to several reasons and society has been trying to tackle that for a while.

Although a lot of aspects affect mental illness in a person, experts suggest that exercise also plays a crucial role in keeping them at bay. They are now saying that making kids in their teens run for around 2 km every day can prevent depression.

They found that physical activity among children drops when they start attending secondary school. Exercise has been known to reduce stress and the lack of it might be causing the rise in depression among teenagers.

They also recommended an initiative where ten minutes of physical activity was combined with lessons and walking meetings for children.
