Risk of cancer increases with junk food, beef

Kakinada: Consumption of beef  in excess increases the risk of colorectal cancer while junk food like pizzas and burgers also add to the risk. Researchers have found that vegetarian food is preferable. "Idly-sambar is a better source of protein than beef,'' said, eminent gastroenterologist B. Subrahmanyam Reddy.

The US-based specialist was in Kakinada for the arrangements for conducting Old Students of 197-1974 Batch meet for three days from January 19 at Rangaraya Medical College.

 

Dr Subrahmanyam Reddy said that using refined oil and consumption of refined food items can also lead to various diseases. He said that Sesame Oil, Ground Nut Oil and other Nut oils are very healthy for the body.  He said that due to refined oils, the resistance power of the body can be reduced. He said that there are healthy proteins available in vegetarian foods and the vegetarian foods are giving health to their body as they release pro-biotic and increasing the disease resistance levels. ``Any inflammatory food is bad for body. We should take fiber, nuts, cereals, leafy vegetables and others. Turmeric, Ginger and Garlic are used as antibiotics. In Sambar powder, there are many herbal contents there and it will be useful for the body. In Yellow-Rice food, there are available more proteins. Such food and eating habits are healthy for the people'' said Mr Subrahmanyam Reddy. He said that he was suggesting such foods in US for patients.

 

Mr  Reddy also said that Dr Dean Ornish has conducted a study on patients on their eating habits and suggested some fiber and vegetarian foods. When the former American President Bill Clinton was performed Cardiac Surgery, he changed his eating habits on the recommendations of Dr Dean Ornish'' he said. He said that the Practice of Yoga, Meditation, Vegetarian and Social Connectivity with people are reducing the cardiac problems and the study reveals it.

He said that the people should spend some time with their relatives, family members, friends and also the people of the society with pleasant atmosphere and it makes the person healthy. He also said that Indian Medical Expertise is very useful in US as they are easily moving with the different kinds of people so that the Indian Culture is very suitable for building up human relations.
