World Health Organisation makes diagnostics list mandatory
Hyderabad: The ministry of health is preparing an Essential Diagnostics List as the World Health Organisation has made a mandatory rule for each country to have their own list which will help diagnose communicable and non-communicable diseases. The out-of-pocket expenses which many face due to the long list of diagnosis has made it imperative to have a list of essential diagnostics.
Many people find diagnosis an expensive process. But an essential list will have only minimum tests at a relatively affordable price. Ms Arunima Patel, founder of a leading diagnostic laboratory explained, “The Essential Diagnosis List will pave way for standardisation in the prescription and laboratory processes. Unwanted testing will now be questioned and there will be a need to justify the same.” The government is going to prepare a draft on the lines of Essential List of Medicines.
