4 mistakes you make while using condoms

Many men do not know if they don't follow instructions on the packet their condoms are rendered less effective.

Needless to say that condoms are, perhaps, the best form of protection from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases or infections.

However, it turns out, that at the heat of the moment, many a man, has made some erroneous decision while trying to use condoms.

While most men are probably smart enough to pick a condom myth when they see one, they may not know that if they don't follow the instructions on the packet to the letter their rubbers are less effective.

The mistakes, boys make, are as simple as putting them inside out, or buying the wrong size!

Speaking to The Sun, Natika Halil, chief executive of sexual health charity FPA, said that if condoms are used according to the instructions then they are 98 per cent effective.

Here are some common mistakes men make while using condoms.

Putting them on inside out: Putting on a rubber inside out is a bad idea. A condom is designed to fit one way and if it's on inside out it may not fit as well as it should. It could slip off when you do not want it to.

Rolling it out before putting it on penis: If you roll the condom out before you put it on your penis it could leave you in a sticky situation. It could stretch the rubber so the condom doesn't fit properly or cause a tear so semen can leak out.

Buying the wrong size: Many men overestimate their size and end up opting for a larger size condom which could slide off when a person is getting down and dirty between the sheets.

Using them after expiration date: Condoms are scientifically tested so manufacturers know just how long they will last. The expiration date that is put on the packet is not just a rough guide, it's the date the manufacturers believe the condom will no longer be effective.
