Measles-rubella vaccination drive: Western parts of Bengaluru not covered
Bengaluru: Since the launch of ambitious measles and rubella vaccination drive on February 7, the state government is trying to spread awareness and ensure cent percent vaccination. But parents of many children from West Bengaluru alleged that even a week after the driver started, no effort has been made to vaccinate their children in schools and Anganvadis.
The Health Department is vaccinating all the children at schools, anganavadis and primary health centres. But parents Malleswaram, Vijayanagar, Rajajinagar, Peenya and other areas of West Bengaluru complained that the vaccination drive has been taken up only in select areas and is not spread across the city. Parents alleged that it is the children in Anganavadis who are the most vulnerable.
An officer from Bengaluru Urban District Panchayat said that this drive will continue till February 28 and all the areas and schools will be covered by that time.
