Arattu Mandapam turns blue for Diabetes Day

Lighting the monument blue is part of global campaign against diabetes.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Trivandrum heritage icon Arattu Mandapam, the ancient and historical stone structure at Shankumughom beach, was lit in blue colour as part of the diabetes public awareness campaign on the occasion of World Diabetes Day here on Monday. The initiative was organised jointly by P Kesavadev Trust and Jothydev’s Diabetes and Research Centre. Lighting the monument blue is part of global campaign against diabetes.

Jothydev’s Diab sand art at Shanghumughom also attracted people from various sections of society. Visually stunning sand sculpture of organs; kidney, heart, eye and leg was created giving the message of "Importance of treating diabetes early to protect our organs." Early screening for diabetes and its involvement in of vital organs save money and precious lives. The sand art was created by artist Deepak Mouthatil and team on behalf of the P Kesavadev Trust.
