Millennials feel more stressed on the job than older colleagues

More than a quarter of people in this age group said they are expected to work through stress in their profession.

The rising awareness around mental health has started an important conversation about issues affecting young people. While bad days at a workplace are not good news, the resultant stress can have a drastic effect on overall well being of a person.

A new survey is now suggesting that millennials aged between 18 and 38 are feeling more pressure on the job than the previous generation. More than a quarter of people in this age group said they are expected to work through stress in their profession.

A third of millennials also admitted that stress was making them less productive at work. Meanwhile only 14 percent across both age groups were comfortable talking to their manager about stress levels.

It has also been found that a work environment that makes people feel supported and secure helps improve mental health while a job which makes people feel insecure damages it. A recent report has called for rules for employers to take mental health and stress seriously.
