Eating within a 12-hour window can help you lose weight: Study
Eating within a 12-hour window can help you lose weight, scientists have found.
For the study, Australian researchers fed mice a diet high in fat or the standard diet in a laboratory for close to 12 weeks, the Daily Mail reported.
They found mice on the high fat diet gained less weight, when they ate only for half the day.
The team believes consuming foods in this time frame, regardless of whether it was day or night, helps control one's appetite.
"Time-restricted feeding did not affect weight gain in the standard laboratory diet mice but decreased weight gain in the high-fat diet mice - irrespective of the time-restricted diet period," study author Professor Amanda Page, from the University of Adelaide, is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Excess weight gain can increase risk of type 2 diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
