KOZHIKODE: A book for imparting training to community volunteers of Pain and Palliative Care would be released by district collector U.V. Jose on Saturday. The 80-page book is being brought out as per the direction of WHO on modules and components for the 16-hour training. The Institute of Palliative Medicine which is a collaborative agency of WHO has brought out the book in association with Sanjeevan, an NGO engaged in palliative care in Pondicherry.

Dr K. Sureshkumar of IPM told DC that the book would be released in Kozhikode and Pondicherry simultaneously. "We have already getting calls from Pain and Palliative Care units from other states", he said. Mr Suresh Kumar said that this is the first book of its kind in India which would help trainers as well as volunteers in palliative care to grab the essentials of palliative care in a short span of time.
